Emotional Phases

Page history last edited by PBworks 11 years, 7 months ago

Emotional phases are the newest... technology that I'm testing out with my scriptwriting.

It's a layer of structural planning that happens above the 20 sentence outline.

It's breaking the script down into seven or eight big emotional phases; movements (or acts) that I want the audience to feel.

I suspect they are usually in conjunction with how the main character is feeling.

Inspired by some quotes by members of Team Whedon.

[check out Shawn Ryan and David Greenwalt (?)]

Talk about the first act of The Incredible Hulk.

Bruce Banner is under incredible pressure, living in a highly stressful situation.

Everything in his immediate environment is working to make him angry.

This creates a tension in the viewer - can he hold it together?

Provide an example.
